Hi guys,
It has not been long since my last post, but still: a little update.
Wednesday evening I arrived safely in Bangkok. As did Winnie on Thursday morning. I wanted to take the train from the airport to the hostel, but when I tried to buy my ticket they told me the next train would arrive in 2 hours. So that didn't work out. On the station I met a girl from England who's hostel was near mine. Bus 29 was supposed to take us near the hostels, so we decided to go by bus. There were no directions or English speaking staff or anything, but luckily an English speaking guy explained to us where to get off. Together with GPS I reached the hostel. I had some dinner on the street and a very comfortable bed. :)
Thursday morning Winnie arrived from the Netherlands!! We had an easy day in the park. Well... easy? There were enormous reptiles just walking around. ;P After lunch we took a nap and went to dinner. There was a Food Island in a big mall just 20 min walk from the hostel. We got a card and put some money on it. With that we could pay at every stall and after dinner we got a refund of what was left on the card! So much fun and good food.
Friday we went to the centre of Bangkok. We arranged some excursions for the following days and visited two very famous temples: Wat Arun and Wat Pho. After the bus ride back we had dinner on the streets and went to bed early.
Yesterday we went on a day trip to Ayutthaya. The minivan picked us up at 7 a.m. and we spent the day walking around ruins of temples and visiting the summer palace of the king. We went to the Food Island for dinner again and packed our bags.
This morning we visited one of the famous floating markets. We went there by minivan again and the tour included a boat ride to the markets. There we walked around and bought fruit and vegetables for lunch. Right now we're getting ready to go to the bus station to get on the night bus to Chiang Mai, where we will visit the city as well as go on a two day hiking tour!

Laura, wat moet dat leuk zijn om je vriendin aan de andere kant van de wereld weer te zien. Jullie hebben vast veel te bepraten en gaan het vast leuk krijgen. Wens ik jullie in ieder geval toe.
Ik ben als klein meisje vlak na de oorlog ook in Bangkok geweest maar weet daar niet veel meer van. We deden zeker geen sightseeing daar, waren andere tijden.
Je schrijft dat jullie op straat eten. Is dat in van die kramen die je hier op de uitmarkt ziet, maar dan wat groter? Zulke heb ik in ieder geval op Java gezien. En lekker eten daar!
